MENTAL MODEL B

Fusion first

Fusion first

I developed Mental Model B to explore a more unified platform direction. Rather than maintaining separate practice and firm environments, the model positioned Fusion as the primary experience, with Supernova embedded within it as the accountant-facing practice capability.

THE QUESTION

Could one platform support both the firm and the practice?

Could one platform support both the firm and the practice?

The alternative was to remove the separation between the two environments altogether. Mental Model B explored whether Fusion could become the primary platform, with Supernova embedded within it as the accountant-facing practice experience.

WHAT CHANGED

A clearer and more scalable structure

The model separated the accountant’s practice environment from the wider firm platform while maintaining connections between the two. Accountants could move between firm-level capabilities, their personal practice environment and individual client books without collapsing everything into a single product context.

Fusion as the primary environment

Accountants entered through a single firm-level platform rather than a dedicated practice product.

Supernova embedded within Fusion

Practice-management capabilities became part of the broader platform experience.

A more unified product model

The approach reduced separation between firm and practice contexts, but required accountants to operate within a broader platform structure.
